He found the right place! That's the important thing to me. We have
several Dutch-speakers on the group. They'll help, and we'll all
learn 'something'. Maybe Dutch is all he speaks, just as English is
all many of us speak. ;-)

True, Nick, but the point I was making is that this is an English
language group. His being from the Nederlands or anywhere else in the
world is not the issue. What he did is as absurd as my posting, in
English, to a German-language newsgroup. The dutchie should have
picked up on that and worked on the translation on his end. Sure,
periodically and sporadically we have an English-literate dutchie who
communicates to the NG in English. That just underscores my point.

Here's what I learned checking on the language thing: Unless an NG
charter specifically says only one specific language is allowed, its fair
game for all languages, and not considered bad etiquette to post in any
language (and not particularly good etiquette to criticize someone
posting in another language).

Now that isn't to say that common sense dictates that where almost
everyone corresponds in one language, that the use of another might not
result in a satisfactory discussion or answer to a question, just as a
practical matter. But its not bad form as near as I can tell, just more
risky in terms of finding someone who understands if posting in something
other than the predominant language. But so far, we seem to have had
pretty good luck in having someone who can respond in kind.

I think its pretty cool that Europeans are here talking to us Americans
about something we all enjoy... tasty barbecue. If we share our ribs and
briskets they may come to understand that the average American would
rather share barbecue with friends than be seen as enemies. If we are to
be world leaders, I say let it be by cooking some Q for everyone!
