New York shopping and sightseeing

OT: Lest you think all I do is shop I will begin with the other stuff. DD and I were in NYC for the past few days. We went to the top of the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Metropolitan Museum of Art (saw the British fashion exhibit among other things), MOMA, American Folk Art Museum. We walked to Rockerfeller Center, ate at the Trump Tower, walked through the Chrysler Bldg., Grand Central Station, Soho and lots of other places; in fact, we walked so much I woke up daily with my feet hurting. We had lunches at Bergdorf's and Barney's and dinners at Rene Pujol, Balthazar and the Blue Fin. We saw and loved Spamalot.

Now that you skipped all that, we shopped.
Takashimaya...Aqua di Biella Janca fragrancehttp://tinyurl.com/zolhp
Bergdorf's...Ellie Tahari silk skirt cream with cranberry and pink floral print and a sleeveless cranberry knit tophttp://tinyurl.com/gkek3
I think this is it. It is being shipped for just $1.75 so I could avoid the sales tax.
Swatch...matte gold skin Now I am happy with a summer sport watch that is lightweight.
Brooks Brothers...great sale, salmon cotton cable sweater for the youngest girl and a short sleeve yellow silk top for her sister, both were 50% off
H&M...green sleeveless dress for the oldest girl
Diesel...tan, cream and black plaid shirt for the boy
Tie for DH from the Met and a very cool kitchen timer from MOMA

Barney's...who would think but this was my favorite shopping experience far more fun than the BH store
biggest splurge...Marc Jacobs handbag for me and the girl bought herself a Barney's large tan leather handbag lined in red leather. I cannot find links on their web site but both are significant statements :) Hers was marked down to $299 and mine was marked down twice from $1295 to $499. I can't find a link but the shape is like the leather satchel and the color is whiskey, a dark tan. There are two fringe pieces that hang from rings on one of the handles. There are small circle cutouts in the leather. After the happiness of handbag shopping I went to cosmetics, and Michele, the Armani counter manager, took me all over the department showing me items unique or new to Barneys. I tested the Frederic Malle fragrances in the booths that I read about in T&C, saw the Dr. Sebagh line of skincare, lots of candles, fragrances and cosmetics. I told her in the beginning that I had just purchased a new fragrance but I made the fatal mistake of having one of the SAs at the Malle counter spray the Bigarde Concentree on my left arm. It is bitter orange with rose.http://www.basenotes.net/ID26121836.html
You'll see different reviews here but by the end of my journey around the dept. I bought the smallest size. I also bought a Red Flower tiny blood orange candle and a Kanego ginger biege lipstick. I loved that Michele did not push any products although she said Armani will soon be coming out with a new foundation for mature skin (that's me) as well as a skincare line. I also appreciated that she knew immediately that I was not a cosmetic/skincare neophyte.

There were other purchases too but these are the highlights. Happy 4th of July!
