i know you said 'most,' so i'm not even going to cop an attitude
here. everyone knows that i have eight pairs of Kenneth Cole,
two pairs of Cole Haan, and a pair of Skechers slides. i also
have a pair of Mizuno running shoes.

Child's play, David. Mere child's play. *And* I think you just proved my
point: you could describe your entire shoe collection without looking. I
know that there are a.f.ers who have over 100 pairs of shoes--and they go
through to cull them (for charity) often. I'm not belittling men's shoe
habits, just pointing out that women tend to have more shoes, which is
reasonable because there is a far greater variety available to women. (Just
take a look at a DSW in a large city to see what percentage of floor space
is devoted to women's shoes compared to men's.) OTOH, I've seen much higher
quality construction in men's shoes. Definitely designed for the long haul.
(If you can score some Armani oxfords on ebay, check them out. They are so
soft and smooth on the inside; no break-in period required. IIRC, my father
had some Bally's that he got in Switzerland in the 1970s; he was definitely
not a clothes hound, but he was very proud of those shoes.)
