Re: What I bought today

I just got new glasses, too! They're clear plastic that has what
appears to be a sort of light denim fabric embedded within the plastic.
They "read" as medium-bright blue and I am just loving them. I've
finally come to realize that glasses are, in fact, my most important
and visible accessory and that I can permit myself to own more than one
pair at a time. Yay!

New glasses! And I decided I was tired of the same old wire rims, and
just got a new prescription, so I went to Ottica in downtown Seattle.
Lorelai, who either works there or is the owner, not sure which, is a
friend of both my hairdresser and my vet, and both had shown up with
great, wild new glasses. One of my coworkers went down there and came
back with some unusual frames that took 10 years off of her (she's the
same age as me, 53), while still being appropriate for office wear. So,
with "Don't argue with Lorelei, buy whatever she tells you to" ringing
in my ears, I went, she was fantastic, I tried on a lot of frames, and I
purchased.

http://www.laeyeworks.com/catalog/popcorn.html, in black. As much as I
was tempted by other colors, I need something for everyday wear that
goes with everything. The frames themselves certainly give me the fun
factor!

Lorelei's first choice for me was another manufacturer/style in
orange/red stripe that looked pretty darned good, but she agreed that
they were not everyday, wear-to-the-office frames. I may go back and
get them for my "second" pair (as my insurance allows 2 pairs every 2
years).

Congrats! New glasses can be fun. I have a pair of LA Eyeworks "Cateye"
glasses in black and LOVE them. They're the first glasses I've ever
owned that I wear because it's part of my look for the day and because I
like how they look rather than because my contacts are bothering me.
You've just reminded me that it's time to find some more glasses. I want
something other than black for days when I'm not in a "black" mood :)
Enjoy your frames. My LA Eyeworks frames take a lot of abuse and I'm
sure that if and when my prescription changes, I'll want to get new
lenses for them.
