Whew!!! I'm still pooped. It's going to take awhile to recover, but
hey, that usually means a good time was had, and in this case it was I
think.
We had the kick off party at my house and DH was going off to an
encampment for reenacting, but I talked him into staying Friday night
and leaving early Saturday instead of leaving Friday night so we all
hung out and visited with one another. It was about 5-6 of us; Barb,
MicheleH, EMD, Shalini, Cindy think_anything@xxxxxxxxx, and
MElizabeth. I made kebabs and rice and got the idea from a story I
read at DailyCandy to make cookies..in
the shapes of shoes, dresses and hats.
Saturday am we met up for coffee then headed to Chevy Chase and fell at
Michele's feet for a number of reasons; a) she was one way or the
other, and at some point, going to get an Epi bag and b) she was so
calm and collected through the whole debacle. After the LV store we
headed to
Saks and converged on the Armani counter. Cindy and Michele got
makeovers and looked *stunning* afterward and the SA was so nice she
gave EMD and me samples. And not just one tube, each of us got 2 in
case we were between shades. THAT's service. On the suggestion of my
friend C, I splurged, on Freeze 24/7 Eye Serum. She totally
sold me on this and never, ever does that unless she really believes in
a product. Also, she and I have the same dry-ish, fighting off the
wrinkles, fair skin that's a cross between English Rose and American
mix. Then EMD and I wandered over to the Bond #9 counter and this was
a disappointment for me, sort of. I still haven't found one of their
scents I like but OTOH, I didn't part with more dinero. While this took
place DD, C, and Michele went ISO the now infamous "Cammie" and I
wish I'd gone along for this mission because apparently both of them
were very competent "Wing Men". Yep, the little one too. Between EMD,
DD and C, Michele will always have the best "wing men" lol.
We then headed to BR and EMD stockpiled their scoopneck 3/4 sleeve
lightweight knit T's, then it was on to lunch at the Corner Bakery.
EMD,
DD and I headed home while the others stayed on for another hour or
so then later we met up at my friend Nancy's shop the Silk Purse in
my neck of the woods of Suburban VA. It's preppy heaven complete with
grosgrain watchbands, key fobs, hairbands, Vera Bradley everything and
lots of other cute
gifts and wearables. I bought 2 watchbands, a VB umbrella - pink and
green - to chase off the grey day doldrums and the _Entertaining with
Lilly_ book. The big surprise EMD actually got grosgrain watchbands
and a watchface. CALL THE PRESS!!!! They look GREAT on her too. One's
an abstract dots pattern in greens and yellows and one's the usual
pink/white combo. After this we had a delicious dinner at Cheng's
Pacific, a local restaurant with pan asian food. Then home to crash.
Sore feet all around!!
The next day was our Body Shop spa experience demo and brunch at C's
house, yummy quiches and desserts and mojitos, AND yummy TBS
goodies. I think we all ended up with the African Spa gift set because
the consultants gave us a foot treatment with all of the products in
that set and wow, after that we were ready to conquer other shopping
turf. So we did, we headed to Tyson's Galleria and raided the Coach
and MAC stores and the Awake counter at NM. I think I finally found
lip stains that actually feel good there. I will report on them in the
May Hits and Misses along with the Freeze 24/7 serum - but I'll tell
you all I'm already seeing results with it. It will earn a rave.
After this Michele and Barb called it a day but EMD, Shalini, Cindy
DD and I ended up back at my house and noshed on leftovers
while watching "Napoleon Dynamite" which is a funny flick in its own
right but actually a fashion flick in a kind of anti-fashion way so we
all got a kick out of that (eeek, that rust colored suit he wears to
the dance! That big hair on all the girls at the dance! The 80s vibe
all around in this day and age!).
I think it was the best gathering yet. We lost a couple of folks due
to last minute memorial weekend happenings but it was FUN. I'm wiped,
but already can't wait for next year :-))))))))).
