Another SF-dweller here, popping up out of my recent lurkdom to add my
2 cents... beware, it's long. That's a lot of value for 2 cents,
actually.

I'm finally making my way from Australia to the US later this month, and
will be staying in San Francisco around the Pacifica area, a couple of
days
in Sacramento, with a possible stay in LA as well.

Others have brought this up but I'll reiterate anyway. Sacramento will
probably be hot. Pacifica, not actually in San Francisco but just
outside the City, will likely be cold, maybe even colder than SF proper
(I have a friend who was raised there and she swears there's a
"sunbelt" in Pacifica, but anytime I've been there it's been very cool
and usually foggy), LA is usually pretty warm in summer, especially by
San Francisco standards. :) Keep in mind that in San Francsico it's
quite common to see people (even people who live here and are used to
the weather) in sweaters and leather jackets well into what would
normally be considered Summer by most of North America. In SF, it
doesn't warm up till much later, usually around September. So be
prepared for some fog, and temps around the 60's in the daytime, and
colder, probably low 50's, at night (Farhenheit, of course).

tWW - I agree -- great post. I grew up in SF, lived in Berkeley (LA,
NY) and now Sacramento. Very good descriptions of potential spots to
shop & eat.

Wow! Great post! Thanks for the info! I've always wanted Fluevog boots
but was never keen to order online.
I'm starting to realise I'm going to run out of time, 2 weeks is hardly
going to be enough.

The weather in SF sounds like our winter here. When you say Sacramento is
hot, how hot do you mean? Packing for this trip is going to be nightmare I
think. I have a week at a conference in New Zealand first, so that will
probably be freezing weather.

Sacramento in the summertime has a 30-35 degree swing in temperature.
So if it's 85 during the day, it will be about 50 at night. The good
thing is that it will cool off at night and you won't have to deal with
sweltering humidity. Personally, I like the temps in June because 85
just doesn't seem that hot to me. You will definitely want a sweater
or light jacket in th evening. But you could get away with wearing
open-toed shoes 24/7.

If San Francisco is foggy, Sacramento is a bit cooler. If San
Francisco is hot & sunny, it may be a bit too hot here. After living
here for 8 years, I don't mind temps up to about 95. It's a dry heat.

And when I go to The City, I freeze in 74 degrees. Thin blood or
something. San Francisco/Pacifica description provided by tWW is right
on. The sunshiny days may still be brisk.
