I always use the metal candle caps with Yankee Candles -- the ones
with holes, not the fancy acrylic ones with scenes. You can buy them
in the store for about $6, but I found them on ebay for much less.
The metal distributes the heat to the sides and makes them burn down
pretty cleanly. You do have to burn them about a minimum of a few
hours each for the large candles however.
The metal also keeps the glass from cracking if the candle burns down
to the wick. This is great for when you forget to blow it out.
My favorite scent by far from Yankee is the Clean Cotton. I love
those air fresheners too, called Car Jars, I guess. For less than $2
each, I keep all my closets smelling clean and fresh.
