Jeanne,

I've been extremely successful with Oxi Clean and white pit stains. My
modus operandi is to run the laundry water as hot as possible mixing the OC
in double strength (usually two scoops) while water is running. Do not put
laundry detergent in at the same time as I think it may reduce the
efficiency of the OC at removing extreme stains. I agitate them for a
couple of minutes to submerge them fully and to saturate them, then I stall
the cycle and let them sit for a couple of hours. Next I add detergent and
start the cycle again. This works about 65% of the time for me at reducing
those terrible stains on whites.

Now, I use OC on colored clothes too but have not used them to remove
extreme stains, just to get some clothes cleaner than they've been. I can't
say for sure but it probably contributes to fading the colors somewhat but
harsh detergents (Tide) do that anyway. If they're lost anyway, I'd try
soaking them in the OC solution too but maybe use not as hot water
temperature. Remember to keep the colors separate as OC may cause a little
more color loss.

Good luck with them.

Jamie

P.S. The key may be in how long you soak them and they may require
re-soaking.
