For someone who hasn?t played any?

The TV commercials for that Pod Race game looked pretty cool (that was
a few years ago I believe) but I never really tried any of them. I
suppose there are probably dozens of different SW games by now.

Thanks and MTFBWY

The two already suggested are good - I have played battlefront I and
II, as well as Empire at war, which is a fantastic game, and was made
by the people behind Command & Conquer and the Red Alert games.

Going along with the genres categorizing, the very best first person
shooter I played in the star wars universe was actually one called
Republic Commando - you play as a clone commando during the clone
wars, and that game is simply fantastic, and very few people seem to
know about it.

If you enjoy RPG's, then Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR) is
absolutely fantastic, and of all star wars games made, my
favorite...It takes place in the old republic, long, long before the
empire, and is just so well executed both style and theme, and
contains a wonderful story.
Another great First/third person shooter is Jedi Knight 2: Jedi
Outcast...this game absolutely nails the experience of using a
lightsaber, using force powers, and generally having a good time. It
also has a very entertaining story.
Those are the recent ones that have come out that are of good
quality...There are some older games that are just wonderful, all the
old x-wing space sims are great, but require tweaking to work on an XP
system.

I hope this helps.

I have to disagree with one of your games. I think that for a Star
Wars game, Knights of the Old Republic isn't a very good game. In the
game, you can't fight for yourself, and that is just terrible. Your
character can completely miss a shot, but I do think that the
lightsaber attacks are cool. Oh, yeah, and one good "old" game would
be Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. Loved that game, but only had the
trial.

Agreed. The fighting interface was clunky. However, there were some
challenging fight scenes. I had particular trouble with the
Mandalorian. It was quite a rush when I finally beat him. I
preferred the first person style of Jedi Outcast, though. I'm not
into keeping track of all the points and stats.
