Widescreen doesn't cut off anybody's head, unless the TV upon which it is
viewed is set incorrectly, and a great deal of information is lost in the
pan & scan version of movies. You can certainly argue that removing Obi-Wan
and Qui-Gon from the frame in heir meeting with Jar Jar Binks doesn't
detract from the storytelling but I much prefer the widescreen version of
TPM which shows all 3 characters at the same time. You can still follow the
story in pan & scan but wouldn't you rather see all that these visually rich
films have to offer?
