Well... Since he is trying to bring Vader totally on his side AND he said
what he said about the pupil killing his master after teaching him
everything that he knew, why would you think that he would tell Anakin right
away or at all? When you want something from someone, you don't put all of
your cards out on the table, you reel them in.

Later in the film, the Emperor would make certain faces when certain events
took place concerning Vader. It is an indication of trickery. Also, check
out this link and read it. This should put to rest any nonsense.
