There is something I have to ask. This widescreen thing is all the rage. Why
is it so much "better"? I have run tests on my own equipment and some in
stores (that would allow me to play a widescreen dvd). If you compare side
by side a widescreen tv with a widescreen format dvd versus a regular screen
tv and regular format dvd, it is clear that 2 things are true:
1. The widescreen setup shows more of the shot on the sides but cuts off
peoples heads
2. The regular setup does NOT cut off the peoples heads but does cut off
some of the sides
This also applies when you swap the dvds. Put the widescreen dvd in the
regular tv etc.
What's the deal? Frankly I don't like everyone's head cut off. And the area
at each side doesn't reveal that much.
