Lt. Uhura was the only black person in the fleet. Then Gene
Roddenberry died, and brothers floating around in outerspace
asked, "Can we come in now?"
Not true. There were many blacks on the original Star Trek
assigned on the Enterprise.
I remember them...before that they were often seen on the streets
of Mayberry....r
Star Trek filmed a couple of episodes on the Mayberry set. You can
see Capt. Kirk pass "Floyd's Barber Shop."
And the still supplying Otis's Saturday-night sprees was hidden in a
Jeffries tube....r

I'm having a hard time getting my head around the idea that Joan
Collins once visited Mayberry!...
BTW, do you realize that in its eight years on the air, "The Andy
Griffith Show" had as guest stars:
Rob Petrie's sleepwalking brother
Gilligan *and* the Skipper
Jeannie
Tim O'Hara (aka Mr Eddie's Father)
Meathead
Doctor Bombay
Uncle Jed
Darren Stephens' mother
Batman (the animated one from "Superfriends")
Doris Ziffel *and* Sam Drucker
Carter from Stalag 13
Captain Stubing
Father Mulcahy
Dr Johnny Fever
and Sam the Butcher, using eight different names
....r
Did you know...
....Both series Don Knotts is best known for were on eight seasons with
Knotts a regular for five: Andy Griffith Show (1960-68, DK 1960-65);
Three's Company (1976-84, DK 1979-84).
....Both Hogan's Heroes and Gomer Pyle USMC had a character named Sgt.
Carter (although the Hogan's Heroes character started out as a
Lieutenant).
....Bewitched had at least three gay regulars: Dick Sargent, Paul Lynde
and Diane Murphy, one of the twins who alternated as Tabitha. (There are
rumors about Agnes Moorehead...)
....The character Robert Hogan, played by Bob Crane, was named after
actor Robert Hogan, who has guest-starred on Hogan's Heroes.
....Of all the many actors who played recurring characters on Bewitched
[other than the children Tabitha and Adam], only Bernard Fox (Dr.
Bombay) is still alive.
....Paul Lynde, Bernard Fox and Alice Ghostley all appeared in early
episodes of Bewitched as different characters (mortals) before playing
recurring characters (witches).
....Similarly themed series Ben Casey and Dr. Kildare were on different
networks during the exact same seasons (1961-66); The Munsters and The
Addams Family were both on 1964-66; Medical Center and Marcus Welby, MD
were both on 1969-76.
....Although it seems Samantha was impregnated by two different Dicks on
Bewitched, she actually discovered she was pregnant during the fifth
season (although in a episode without Dick York so we didn't see her
tell him.) Samantha's two pregnancies coincided with Elizabeth
Montgomery's real-life pregnancies.
....Although the Darrin character is the best known for being played by
two different actors, others also were: Gladys Kravitz, Darrin's father
Frank, Larry's wife Louise, and Tabitha and Adam both played by twins.
....The two stars of Family Ties, Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter were
both born on the exact same day: 6/21/47.
....Two episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show were not filmed in front of an
audience: "The Bad Old Days" because of numerous costume changes and
"Happy Birthday and Too Many More" because it was filmed right after
John F. Kennedy's assassination and it was felt an audience wouldn't be
in a laughing mood.
....The pilot of Bewitched began filming on 11/22/63, the day of JFK's
assassination.
....Dick Sargent was the first choice to play Darrin but was unavailable
at the time.
....Father Knows Best was in production for six years: the first year it
was on CBS, the next three on NBC and back to CBS for the final two
years. Then CBS showed reruns in prime time for two more years. Finally
ABC got into it and showed reruns in prime time for another year.
