I really have enjoyed the visits from Mr. Toyoda. It brings to mind
the old "Late Night Apology" that Dave would deliver to high-powered
celebrities or corporations he had insulted, with the voice of
Associate Director Pete Fatovich filling in the blanks for the name of
the offended party, and the offense being addressed.
for example:
8/05/86: Cheryl Tiegs
(I know there were others, but only Donz knows when.)
Then there was the actual apology Dave gave on-air to Martha Raye,
condom user, on 4/01/87. Or to the "Today" show on 8/20/85, for the
bullhorn incident that started the feud with Bryant. Or calling back
Olaf at Tass on 7/09/86 to apologize for the silliness over blue urine
the night before.
