Rob Burnett is saying that Dave wanted Conan to be there too but that
it just never came together. Too bad. It would have been hilarious if
after Dave and Jay's little interaction, Conan would have come in from
the kitchen with popcorn and a drink and then pointed to Leno on the
couch and said, "Hey, you took my seat!"

I think it probably had something to do with Conan's exit contract.
Everything I read about the contract said that Conan couldn't have a
new show or couldn't even appear on other shows for a fixed period of
time. Until September I think.
But it wasnt a show it was a commercial for a show although Zucker
still had to sign off on Leno's
appearance.
