However, it was Leno who often was called on by Dave to freshen up his
show back in the day. leno could always be counted on for a funny
segment on dave's old carson-era late late show on NBC. He was
definitely on of Dave's prime go-to guys. In fact, leno was so good
there that it paved the way for him into the Carson guest host role
and eventually the plumb job itself. Tough cookies for Dave to
swallow, yes, but that's show biz!

Given Letterman's incredibly shabby treatment of Hicks
while he was alive, it's astounding that a supporter of the
former would dare broach any topic involving the latter.
