What did "worldwide pants inc" mean anyway? Was there some cute

As others have pointed out already, the word "pants" carries an innate
humorous charge. The word "panties" even more so. For example, Mason
Williams's song "The Prince's Panties" could have made the same point
if he called his dogs "pants", but with a lessening of the humor
intensity.

But the words "pants" and "worldwide" sort of go together. Around the
world, at any given minute, someone is putting on or taking off pants
-- and that's even if you don't count the activity in dressing rooms
at Sears. Pants are a manufactured product of a scope that encompasses
a good part of the global economy. It makes a lot more sense than
calling a company (albeit an entertainment company) Worldwide Red
Fiber Envelope Circles. Of course you know that's the technical name
of those stiff paper circles attached to interoffice envelopes that
you wrap string around. At least you'd know that fact if you too spent
about two years working as a Compilations Editor updating Post's Pulp
& Paper Directory, which identified every company that manufactured
hundreds of different specialized paper (and pulp) products. Yes,
folks, when I start thinking about some of the things I've done
there's no question that I've lived a richly exciting life....

But enough about me. When it comes to pants, who are you wearing? Or,
if you live a simplified life and make up pants for barter, who's
wearing you?

I'm guessing he thought it was kinda cute in a meaningless way. How
hip! Now though, karma has given the name its destined meaning.

I'm wearing Zegna today btw. Hope that helps!
