Really [Palin] might not be an Ivy league grad or a scholar, but she is a
decent person, who has a good record, why is everyone onto her like a
cut snake?? I just don't see why a women of good character is run to
the ground for wanting to civil serve. What has she done besides make
a one or two stupid statements on non-issues? Please enlighten me.

Part of the comedy fodder is the fact that she was plucked from relative
obscurity during the campaign and thrust upon the national stage. Then,
during her frenetic introduction to the public, it became clear that she
was unprepared. Some of the things she said were just *stupid*. It
doesn't necessarily mean that she *is* stupid or unintelligent, of
course, but when you say stupid things, the jokes shouldn't be
unexpected. Plus, her family drama -- fairly on unfairly -- played out
on the public stage like an episode of the current 'Jon & Kate.'

Okay being a Governor is relative obsurity, what about Bill Clinton?
what about Sotomayer where is she from?
Yes she did represent herself initially as a bit yokel local, but I
don't really believe she is not intelligent. Really what you want is
good organisation and clarity which Obama has, but I don't think Palin
is not excellent as well, she just didn't orate it well enough.

During the campaign, Palin claimed that then-candidate Barack Obama
'palled around with terrorists.' As opposed to simply comparing &
contrasting her & John McCain's ideas for the country with what Obama
wanted to do, she chose to take on a role in the campaign that catered
to the very worst in some people; for political reasons, she made a
deliberate decision to smear someone who, presumably just like her and
John McCain, wants what's best for the country. It was a particularly
sinister tactic, playing off xenophobia and fear.

I think she did compare and contrast her views on policy, and didn't
Obama compare her and McCain to George Bush all the time, which was
incorrect and crippling because of his record. And perhaps isn't some
of this bitter hatred towards her fall out from that comparison rather
than what is really on display.

But of course if she did not back up her "palling around with
terroists" (is that a direct quote?) then that really was incorrect s
well, but to say it was rascist and xenophobic is sort of the pot
calling the kettle black, because in hind site the whole war on Iraq
has been akin that.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: it's difficult for me to have much
sympathy for those supporters of hers who get exorcised over a few goofy
jokes, but who presumably didn't have a problem with her basically
claiming that her political opponent was some sort of dishonorable, even
dangerous, 'other.'

hey it really doesn't matter to me what happens to Palin, but I just
don't like the pack mob mentality.

Hmm. I don't know if I answered your question; I might have gotten a bit
sidetracked there. I reserve the right to revise & extend my remarks.

I feel like I just relieved the campaign.

Thank you and sorry for the flashback.
