Here's a local (to me) news story that makes clear why Debbie Lynn
insists on being called an intuitive, rather than a psychic:

'Psychic' to see prison term
By Michelle Durand
The San Mateo psychic accused of bilking elderly customers willing to
pay thousands to protect loved ones from her dire predictions was
sentenced Friday to six years in prison.
Janet Adams, 46, was also ordered to pay more than $400,000 in
restitution although one previous victim who addressed the court said
she has yet to receive any of the $20,000 she lost.
Adams’ actions were “despicable,” according to Judge James Ellis
before he handed down sentence on one count of felony theft from an
elder person and the allegation of excessive taking.
“He actually wished he could hand down more,” said Chief Deputy
District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
Although Adams took a plea deal which dismissed charges for two
additional victims, Ellis was able to consider all the accusations
when determining the sentence.
She receives credit for approximately four months against her term.
Adams owns the Psychic and Crystal Vision shop in San Mateo’s
Laurelwood Shopping Center and was arrested after an 85-year-old woman
contacted police. The woman told authorities she visited Adams’ shop
in January for a tarot card reading and continued visits in which the
“psychic” would request money in return for prayers to keep her
husband from succumbing to a heart attack.
On another visit, Adams reportedly said her own husband was
hospitalized and would die without $9,000 for treatment. The woman
reported a total take of $80,330 from January through December when
her husband noticed the substantial bank withdrawals and learned about
her payments to Adams.
At the time of her arrest, Adams was no stranger to the criminal
justice system.
In 2003, she was sentenced to two years prison for taking $15,000 from
a 19-year-old woman while working as a palm reader and psychic at the
Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival. She was also on probation for taking
money the same way from a San Mateo man the previous year.
She has been in custody in lieu of $500,000 bail.
