It's a tie. The first desk chat highlight of the night: Dave announcing
Paul's recent naming to the Order of Canada. Dave congratulated Paul,
and they spent a couple of minutes talking about it.
The second desk chat highlight of the night came after another
live-via-satellite interview with San Francisco 49ers coach Mike
Singletary. (Biff threw a couple of shoes at Dave. Dave threw one back,
narrowly missing Tony Mendez's head. Why did Biff throw shoes at Dave?
Biff says Dave knows why.)
There was some other stuff, including an edition of the waning 'Great
Moments in Presidential Speeches,' as well as a preview of an Al Jazeera
holiday special, "Khalid the Red-Nosed Camel."

I don't think I'd like that two-person twirly-whirly thing. It reminded
me of the Little Deuce Coupe, a ride at the now-defunct Opryland theme
park in Nashville. I rode the Little Deuce Coupe, and before it came to
a complete stop, I'd thrown up all over my friend Brandon's shoes.
*ADAM SANDLER*
Adam Sandler's appearances are always humorously good-natured. They make
me laugh. His new movie is "Bedtime Stories." He also sang a song from a
new Warner Brothers covers album. (He performed Neil Young's "Like a
Hurricane.")
*MISCELLANEOUS MEANDERING*
What's happenin', people? I got nothin'. What do you want to discuss? I
just had a thought. Here's what I'll do. I'll go to Google News, and
whatever story is highlighted on top (in the upper-left) right now, I'll
discuss. OK, here we go ...
Ah, the headline is: from the *Wall Street Journal*, "Process to Oust
Governor Starts." It's about impeachment proceedings started yesterday
(Monday) against Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. Well, I haven't
studied the case *very* closely, but it sure sounds like Governor
Blagojevich was attempting to arrange a quid pro quo to fill
President-elect Obama's vacated Senate seat. This is what I said to my
brother last night: "What about [Blagojevich's] wife? Did she marry
*him*, or his *hair*?" Oh, how we laughed.
That was kind of fun. We may as well do another. This time I'll pull up
Google News' top *entertainment* news story. And it is ... from the *San
Francisco Chronicle*, "Local Assistance for Transition to Digital TV."
Here's what I think about the digital TV transition: it's not being
talked about enough. It really does seem a bit much, but then again, I'm
sure that once February rolls around, there will be a few people
wondering, 'What do I do?!?' What's the current percentage of homes
without cable or satellite television, anyway?
OK, one more. This time: sports. From the *Washington Post*: "Kings Make
Theus Sixth Fired Coach." After a 6-18 start in his second season, the
Sacramento Kings fired coach Reggie Theus on Monday. Theus had a 44-62
record in Sacramento. I've never really cared much for the NBA. I don't
even watch much college basketball, at least not until NCAA tournament
time. I will admit it: I usually get a case of the March Madness. Now
I'm just looking forward to the Crimson Tide's date with Utah in this
year's Sugar Bowl.
*Now* that's all I got.
