*DESK CHAT HIGHLIGHTS*
Dave spends some time talking about college football. There is no
playoff system in major college football. They have the Bowl
Championship Series (BCS) bowl system, which can be unsatisfying. Dave:
"But now, ladies and gentlemen, with only a couple of weeks in the
regular season to go, a clear-cut national champion is emerging. I'm of
course talking about your 'fighting' Ball State Cardinals." As we know,
the cardinal is the fiercest, robin-sized bird the world. Dave: "They
will roost on your lower lip and peck your nose off." Dave would like to
see Ball State vs. Alabama in the national championship game. Roll Tide.
Dave also places a call to Katie Couric. In its Thursday edition, the
*NYPost* pointed out that Dave didn't even bring up the McCain imbroglio
during Katie's appearance on Wednesday night's Show. Dave says the
'Post' TV writer-critic was correct -- Dave says he completely forgot;
he just wanted to talk about Sarah Palin -- so he calls Katie to discuss
it. This was enjoyable.
Just remember: Wolf Boy will be OK.
And how about Paul & the horn section doing push-ups? Wow.
*STEPHEN COLBERT*
I like Stephen Colbert. His special is "A Colbert Christmas: The
Greatest Gift of All!," airing this Sunday, November 23, on Comedy Central.
*KRISTEN STEWART*
The film is "Twilight." I heard that some fans of the books -- purists,
if you will -- may not be thrilled with the casting. That's what I heard.
*SUPER DIAMOND*
Is there really any *demand* for a Neil Diamond tribute band? I mean, is
it possible that the law of supply & demand may *not* be in effect, in
this instance?
I still would have preferred seeing Jack Black, Steve Zhan, and Jason
Biggs performing some Neil Diamond, augmented by Amanda Peet, R. Lee
Ermey, and Amanda Detmer.
*MISCELLANEOUS MEANDERING*
What's happenin', people? Do you ever eat Nilla wafers? I think I could
eat a box of those things in practically one sitting.
I wouldn't mind having some banana pudding (with Nilla wafers) right now.
