Hey, where the hell has Donz been this week?

Up to my eyeballs in hard drive maintenance.

btw, Donz, I just got me an iMac*. It came with two CDs with the OS and
stuff, and they have no serial numbers or installation codes. My question
is, could I install this on my Powerbook? (not sure I'll want to if I can,
but then, I dunno what I'm going to do with it now either.)

*I like the machine, but, I always end up hating Apple when I buy one of
their products. I like the refinements they've made to the OS. When I
first
fired it up, as I expected, it took over half an hour to get all the
software updates. Then I went to install my FCE. Seemed to go fine, but
when
I opened it, I got an error message. Went to the Apple help forums, and
found that there is a patch for FCE 3.5, but, and here's the part that
makes
me hate Apple, any version earlier than 3.5 (I had 2) is not compatible
with
the new OS! (At least I can get an 'upgrade' version,' which I found for a
total of $88 on eBay...)

Bill, sounds like a real pain in the ass what you're going through. I
know the feeling. :)

I know nuttin' about PowerBooks, but, from what you wrote, it sounds
like you did everything right.

I think there are several options (one of which is installing an older
OS, but that would only complicate things), but your best bet is
probably what you've already figured out -- get the upgrade Final Cut
Express on ebay. That sounds like the path of least resistance.

Yeah. Don't want to go back to the old OS. Not sure I could anyway, plus,
I'm liking the look of the new iDVD. Haven't 'used' it yet. Just kind of
looked at the interface. Also looked at some of Wolsky's training DVD, and
discovered that, with what I had been doing intuitively, I did "get it."
Just need to grasp a few details.- Hide quoted text -

see, this is why I don't have a computer yet...........(I don't even
know what I'm saying now, it's getting late)
