Wis. governor doesn't get Letterman joke


MADISON, Wis. (AP) Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle just didn't get the joke.

Doyle was singled out in a top 10 list presented Tuesday night on the
Late Show with David Letterman. The topic was ''Top Ten Things
Overheard at the Democratic National Convention.''

Number five on the list was, ''Shut up! I'm trying to listen to
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle.''

Doyle is attending the convention in Denver as part of Wisconsin's
delegation. He spoke at the convention Tuesday afternoon.

Doyle said Thursday that his son sent him a link to view Letterman's
delivery of the list. But Doyle says he doesn't know why Letterman
singled him out.

''I don't know if it's good or bad,'' he said. ''Nobody seemed to
understand the joke and nobody laughed at it.''
