Mon. 3/24 Big Show Synopsis

Hey, how's it goin'? Did you *have* a good weekend? Mine was OK. Here we go ...

*COLD OPEN*
We see Dave & Jude backstage. Dave is filling out his NCAA basketball tournament bracket. It's March Madness, you know. Dave thinks he may have the March Madness. Does Jude have the March Madness? "You know," Jude replies. "I don't need any more madness in my life. I deal with a crazy man every day." Dave, pointing to himself and chuckling: "You're talking about me?" Uh-huh. That's what Dave thought. Funny. I'm really glad they're continuing the cold opens.

*DESK CHAT HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT*
I'm going to say that the 'Desk Chat Highlight of the Night' was ... Dave discussing the pre-show conversation he had regarding ticks. (It was just a week or so ago that Dave had the living head of a tick embedded in his flesh. Well, during the pre-show Q-n-A, a woman in the audience revealed that she too recently had a tick on her back. She ended up going to the doctor. Dave was very interested in what the woman's doctor had to say, because Dave's been trying to decide whether he has the tick fever. So, what did the woman's doctor say to her regarding her tick bite? He suggested it was 'just menopause.' Ah.)

There was some other stuff as well, including a couple of clips. After the break, Alan Kalter took a *bathroom* break. (On his way to the restroom, he gave us a guided tour of the Ed Sullivan Theater.) We also had a TTL: 'Signs the Government is Spying on You.' Dave also spent some time talking about how he doesn't care about the NCAA basketball tournament, now that Butler University has been eliminated. A little later, Dave reveals that he made some calls. Turns out there's a chance they may actually let Butler back in the tournament. (They looked at the tape; there seems to be some time left on the clock. How's that? Seems they accidentally let the clock run during a timeout. As a result, they may just redo the overtime. So there you go.)

*DEMI MOORE*
So 'leach therapy' is 'cleansing'; live leaches 'remove toxins' from the body and they 'detoxify' the blood, thus 'optimizing' your health. In what respect, exactly, is it 'good for you?' An enzyme secreted by the leach acts as a blood thinner. And how, scientifically, does she know this? Because they can do blood tests. Hmm, it seems to me that it would be much easier -- not to mention scientifically sound, as well as less painful -- to just *take a blood thinner*, if needed. The film is "Flawless."

*ANTHONY BOURDAIN*
He was a good guest. The show is "No Reservations." It airs on The Travel Channel.

*COUNTING CROWS*
The album is "Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings."

*MISCELLANEOUS MEANDERING*
Singer-songwriter Patty Griffin:

"How will we smile ever again?
I'm asking you sincerely, my dear old friend.
What do you say? Is there a way?
My dear old friend.

How will we laugh just like before
When there's water rising up to our door?
And we may never see each other again
My dear old friend.

Will there be someone to remember
A little place that we loved?
How the music played, all night and day
Through the windows up above.

How the birds sang in the morning
How the dog barked in the yard.
I guess that's nothing much, but everything to us.
And that's what seems so hard.

How will we smile ever again?
I'm asking you sincerely, my dear old friend.
The moon on the hill, says we probably will
My dear old friend."

Five years, 4,000(+) friends. And counting.

Later ...

Brady
