After tonight's stroll, I got the impression that practically everyone
in that WH, including the president, is in over their heads. I mean, I
know her husband, or at least I knew him in the mid-90s. Just
contemplating how he managed to find himself working for Harriet Miers
scared the living daylights out of me.
From another site: he "taught the much-publicized ethics 'refresher'
courses that President Bush required all White House employees to take
after leaks of classified information had led to revelations about a
domestic government wire-tapping program."
The mind reels.
As to the reception itself. In short, it reinforced my decision years
ago to abandon that world.
The world of politics? Or the world of cocktail-dinner parties? (Or both.)
