Do people still read periodicals? I think, pound for pound, one of the
best periodicals being published today is "New York" magazine.

I'm quite the periodical junkie. I subscribe to cultural/political
magazines
(Harpers, The Atlantic, The Nation, The New Yorker), music making
magazines (Keyboard, Piano Today, Sheet Music, Early Music Review),
classical CD review magazines (Fanfare, BBC Music),
spiritual mags (Yoga Journal, The Wittenburg Door), a dancing mag
(Country Dance and Song Society News), and comics history zine
(The Comics Journal).

I also still subscribe to PC Magazine, for which I was an editor
during its early years of its now 25+ year history (scary!).

What about Ziff Davis? Was/is "PC Magazine" owned by Ziff Davis?

I just like saying *Ziff Davis*.

I remember subscribing to New York Magazine in circa 1970
when I was in high school in San Francisco, just to see the
hillarious entries in Mary Ann Madden's weekly competition.
A book compilation of those contest results called "Thank You
For The Giant Sea Tortoise" is one of the most densely
laugh-loaded books I've ever opened. Does New York still publish
that feature?

Wait a second. Was it a 'caption contest?'
