Re: Fourth Weekend in Feb. Time Wasting Thread

What's happenin', people?

My television self-destructed about a half hour ago, while I was watching last night's LS from the DVR. Right at the very end, when Dave came out to shake the comedian's hand, the TV just went kablooey. There was a sudden zzzzzzzzzt sound (never a good sign), then a black screen, a disturbing high-pitched whistling sound, and the smell of burnt wires. Pressing the power button on the remote or on the TV itself did nothing. I unplugged the TV, and all is quiet.

The TV is (was) 10 years old, purchased in January 1998 after my previous TV, VCR, microwave, etc. were fried when the power lines came down during the big Ice Storm of '98.

What a pain. I really don't have time to go out shopping for a TV right now. On the plus side, though, this will give me an excuse to get a flatscreen.

I'll be Daveless for a while. :-(
Hopefully the satellite box / DVR are OK, but I have no way to tell.
