Last night, I watched the documentary "How I Made the Office" that's
on the DVD of the UK version, Series 1. Ricky Gervais and his co-
creator/director Stephen Merchant decry the demise of the variety
show, then go into an astoundingly funny riff on plate spinners.

I saw that too, very funny, and astute.

I say bring back the old Ed Sullivan routines. Let's give the old
theatre one last go around before Dave shuffles off into retirement...
