*DESK CHAT HIGHLIGHTS*
Johnny Dark comes out at the end of the monologue. He doesn't say anything; he just stands there, eyeing the audience and holding a sign: 'Need Mets Tickets.' He stands there for a few more moments before Dave tells him to get out of here.

Next week: Ventriloquist Week on the 'Late Show.' Dave brings out a dummy of his own. I think his name was Billy. Or maybe it was Jimmy. Dave does a little 'termite bit' with Billy/Jimmy.

- Clip: 'The Fascinating World of Ventriloquism' (It's an old clip of a girl being asked how she got interested in ventriloquism. The girl explains that she didn't have any brothers or sisters, so she asked her parents to get her Billy so she could talk to him.) This was funny. The way she rolled the dummy's eyes as she said that just made me laugh.

- 'What's on the iPod?'
The contestant: Mariah from New York City (originally from Oregon via Hawaii). What did she do in Hawaii? She worked at Starbucks. What does she do in New York? She works at Starbucks. The song: "London Bridge," by Fergie. This was a good one. After listening to Rupert, Mariah guesses the song has something to do with London, but she doesn't know the singer. Dave says that's close enough.

The waitress is working tonight. Dave just has her refresh his coffee.

After the break, Alan is taken away by a SWAT team! Wow. As he's being led away, Alan protests. He says it's a setup! I got a kick out of Dave laughing and repeating that line.

Cameraman Dave Dorsett steps in front of the camera. He has a message for his wife. (He tells her that he may have to work late today, but he'll see her later.) What was that all about? Dave D. explains that he just remembered his anniversary. Dave D: "I am so screwed." I like Dave Dorsett.

*DUANE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON*
He cares about the kids, both in real life and in his new movie, "Gridiron Gang."

*NORM MACDONALD*
I'm glad they didn't have to 'do a Letterman' on him. That was funny. I enjoy listening to Norm rattle on & on. His CD is "Ridiculous."

*OTHER STUFF*
- TTL: 'Things Never Before Said By a NASCAR Driver,' as presented by 10 NASCAR drivers.
- Clip: Commercial for ABC's "Men in Trees" (Anne Heche, a big-city professional, decides to look for love in the wilderness of Alaska. Until she finds out what kind of men actually live in trees. <<cue shot of Michael Jackson, up in a tree>>)
- Live shot: Paris Hilton heading home from an audition. (She's OK.)
- Act V: The big Ventriloquist Week lineup.

*MISCELLANEOUS MEANDERING*
I'm outta here. I gotta go ... do some stuff. I'll catch you people later.
