At first I wouldn't buy the discount cards either. I would wait to
order books at Amazon or some other discounted online store. But I
enjoy browsing in person in a bookstore too much to give up what may be
my primary leisure activity and ended up paying too much money buying
books impulsively for gifts as well as for myself. Finally, I figured I
couldn't afford *not* to get the discount card. (I may need a 12-step
program.)


I'm happy that H&B Direct, which stocks pretty much the largest
classical music CD catalogue, has finally abandoned their dual pricing
system; CDs are now the same price for everyone, no more membership
fees. For a long time I pretty much quit buying from them, the system
was so annoying.
