Late Show Fashion #2510

Yes once again my strange little contribution to the group. Call it a
fetish, well you can't really because I do it so infrequently...anyway

I'd like to start of with a bit of commentary on Dale Begg-Smith who
has won Australia's first medal of the 2006 Winter Olympics in the
men's moguls.

You beauty!

Okay onto the LSF

Dave came out last night wearing a mismatched suit a taupe jacket and
dark pants and a ruby red polkadotted tie. The ubiquitous white socks
and of course those tassle shoes. *sigh*

I didn't take much notice of the band, except when Randy Jackson
mentioned playing the bass like Will Lee, then I had a good look at
Will, I liked Will's glasses and the light blue kerchief. Wills getting
that aging face, hard angled and wrinkly, aging gracefully but he still
looks hott. Smokin.

Then it was Rupert and the ski instructor, who were both rugged up. I
have no knowledge of ski fashion, so my comments are based with no
knowledge (really not any different from my other comments) and off the
cuff. Rupert fluffy white cap and ski mask gave him a look of amature.
Where as the ski instructor had a pointy European style hat which made
her look professional.

Julianne Moore came out in a tight little black dress with a pretty
lace camisole. Great ankle strap black shoes. Her long red hair is
magnificent, but I noticed a kink half way down that can only denote
the long hair had been pulled from a pony tail prior to going on. Ass
man story very funny.

Randy Jackson, well what can I say, I am a complete tropics buff, and
the hawaiian shirt was pure magic. God bless the hibiscus and
frangiapani for all the beautiful and colourful desings that those
flowers lend to the hawaiian shirt industry. Excellent. The matching
kerchief was a nice touch. I also noticed that he had some well worn
pointy cowboy boots.

The Ojays were a mishmash of comfortable old guy clothes.

Okay that's all I got from last nights show. I do want to comment on
something Mikemack wrote in the Wahoo the other day as filler space
(filler space?)

"I have little interest in design. I'm all for functionality. I hate
bedspreads that aren't used as a blanket. I hate placemats that
aren't supposed to get food on it. I hate carpeting that you're not
supposed to walk on with shoes. I hate women shoes that women can't
walk in. I hate tea cups and coffee mugs with handles that you can't
fit more than two fingers through. Yeah, I know a good design includes
good function, but function should come first, not how it looks. Make
something work properly first, then you can put a bow on it and pretty
it up. Can you tell I'm just trying to fill up space here? Well, I
am."

Okay all good design is based upon functionality. That's what makes it
good design, is the ergonomics of the item, but artistic style elevates
the functional design to another level by giving the item aesthetic
qualities. Very good design will have high aesthetic qualities without
loosing functionality. Very very good (imo) design will have
aesthetics, functionality, and comfort. However sometimes like in high
fashion when functionality and comfort have no place, and it is only
aesthetics. This I think is what you complain of. Why have something
that is only beautiful? Imo the reason why is it is really cool to
manifest beauty.

Okay that's all I got

Cheers Kath - sorry about the typos
