Look at all the talk shows hosted by white guys that have done well.
And yet so far Oprah is the only black female to make it in this
business, so clearly being a black female is not a demographic
advantage statistically in the talk show business. If anything it
appears to be a disadvantage, only Oprah knew how to market it, the
same way she was able to so brilliantly market Dr. Phil, creating the
most successful talk show since her own ( a marketing feat TV execs
have lost massive fortunes trying to pursue)

I'm not sure if you understood my argument. And by what measure was
Bing Crosby bigger than Oprah? I'm not saying he wasn't, I just don't
know much about him. I know a lot about Oprah and she's been really
really BIG for a very VERY long time, and she did it in such a
fragmented media age.

And she doesn't paint, or use sign lanugae, or own a telephone
company. What's your point? People call her the Queen of all Media
because the depth and breadth of her major media domination exceeds
just about anyone. Probably EVERYONE. Not only does she have the most
successful talk show in the history of the world's most powerful medium
and has created the most successful TV talk show since her own, and
not only is she the most influential literary figure in the world today
(every book she picks races to the top of the New York Times
best-seller list) but her magazine by some measures was the most
successful launch ever. Her made for TV movies aired on weekends and
prime-time routinely win their time slots.

And if all that weren't enough she won an OSCAR NOMINATION for her
first part in a movie.

She's the undisputed Queen of all Media. Can you not just give her her
propers?

Notice the way Oprah DOMINATES the Oscars every year even though she
hasn't been in a movie for years or isn't a presenter. She just sits in
the audience but the camera's always on her and she DECIDES when the
audience gets to laugh and the expressions on her face let the comics
know how far they can go.
