TR 10/13 Big Show Synopsis

Hey, how are ya? At least it's Friday, eh? Here we go ...

- THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2005 -
On tonight's program: Adam Carolla, NY Knicks coach Larry Brown and musical guest Ricky Martin.

*KNOW YOUR CURRENT EVENTS*
Participant # 1: Lawson Gay, a builder from Bowmanville, Ontario. What kinds of things does he build? Commercial projects and houses. He's here on vacation with his wife, Julie. What else have they done? They went to the 'Today Show' this morning. They stood around outside the studio, but they didn't hold up signs. Dave says that's good; he says "there's something wrong with those people. And here, you may notice that the guests on *this* show actually get to come in out of the rain." Lawson plays: 'Know Your Clinton Marriage.'

Vicky comes out. She can't stop laughing at Dave's 'toupee.' Vicky says she'll take 'Know Your Cuts of Meat.' Dave reminds her, once again, that only audience members may participate. Vicky: "I *said*: 'Know Your Cuts of Meat,' please." Vicky doesn't do very well. She doesn't even venture a guess on the second category. She's had enough, actually. She's outta here.

Participant # 2: Mindy, a bartender from Kansas City, MO. Is it true that they have more fountains in Kansas City than they do in Paris? It's true. Do fights ever break out in her bar? No, it's a nice place. What's a popular drink these days in Kansas City? She serves a lot of cosmos. Can she tell, as soon as a person walks in, whether the customer might merely be lookin' for 'straight hooch?' She sure can. How many drinks do they toss back before she starts to keep an eye on them? Two or three. Mindy is here in New York City with her boyfriend, Rocky. How did they meet? Did they meet in the bar? No, but he does come to the bar often. Dave says that if Mindy were his girlfriend, he'd come to the bar every night. Mindy plays: 'Know Your Celebrity Baby Names.'

Participant # 3: Kimberly from Houston, TX. Dave says Houston is a great town. He was there years and years ago. He doesn't remember the time of year, but it was broiling hot. Kimberly and her husband recently moved to New York City. He's a law student at New York University. Is she enjoying the change? She loves it. Kimberly plays: 'Know Your Misguided Explorers.'

*DESK CHAT HIGHLIGHTS*
Dave says there are many substitutions on tonight's show. Paul, for one, is out for Yom Kippur. Filling in for Paul is Booker T. Jones, of Booker T & the MGs. Anton is filling in for Paul. Alan is out as well. Filling in for him tonight is Sarah Krieger. Booker T & the MGs will be performing Friday night (October 14) at B.B. King's Blues Club. They'll be joined on-stage by Anton.

- Clip: "Martha: Behind Bars" (Starring Cybill Shepherd, this gripping television movie aired on Lifetime this week. It was a powerful crime drama. We take a look.) Gee, Martha's life in the stir seemed pretty harsh. Was the prison warden Ilsa the She-Wolf?

A special guest was nice enough to drop by tonight. Because of the holiday, he's standing by in the greenroom, just in case he's needed. Who is it? None other than Tom Hanks. Dave thanks Tom, but tells him that he won't be needed after all. Oh, well. Tom does get a chance to wave to the camera.

*ADAM CAROLLA*
His problem: he sometimes tries too hard. Oh, and some of his material is downright weak.

*LARRY BROWN*
He is one laid-back guy. Is he that low-key courtside, during games?

*RICKY MARTIN*
What a mishmash of a song. The album is "Life" (Sony Records).

*OTHER STUFF*
- TTL: Signs You Have Too Many Kids
- Act V: Do you have an unqualified friend you'd like to see placed on the Supreme Court? If so, send a 3x5 card to: 'Make My Friend a Supreme Court Justice,' 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue ...

*MISCELLANEOUS MEANDERING*
So, do you *have* exciting and/or unusual plans for the weekend? Any interesting movies opening this weekend? I suppose I'll spend my Saturday the same as usual: watching a college football game and editing my weekly Federalist Society newsletter.

Have a good Friday, people.

Later ...
