I thought it was a great show! Lots of Daveness. Dave playing with the
leaf sucker/blower/cell phone was one of the funniest spontaneous
moments in recent memory! And then I laughed myself silly at Dave's
mock horror when Gaines crawls toward the desk. How is this a dreadful
show?
Viggo Mortensen is an intriguing man. I looked up his bio and was only
a little bit surprised to learn that he's an avid photographer and a
published poet, speaks Danish, Spanish, and English fluently and can
"get by" in Norwegian and Swedish. I knew already that he was an
accomplished horseman and, after the filming was completed, bought the
horses he rode in Hidalgo and Lord of the Rings.
I thought his duck story was strange and a little creepy. I'm not sure
how, as a parent, I would have handled the situation if a small child
didn't want to let go of his first kill, but I don't think I would have
let him bathe with it, and told him we were eating it after he was so
attached. Then again, what else would one have done with a dead duck?
I've been thinking about Viggo and the duck all day.
