Exactly. Big missed oppourtunity. Dave knew Ape or Artist was coming when Jenna mentioned Jessie, and I wish he had sent Jenna and Rupert right back to the street to get Jessie. He could have dragged the bear and Ape bits through the whole show.
Who, other than QB Dave, can actually make these audible calls during the
show? Is this something a producer, head writer or director could've
suggested?
My understanding is that yes, a producer or writer could have suggested it. (The director is most likely occupied with other things.)
I remember being so surprised, when seeing a LS script, that everything is
planned to the split second.
That's true in the sense that they know exactly how many minutes / seconds that they have for each segment, how long the video clips take, etc. But they also have many more comedy bits in the script than actually get used. Dave picks and chooses what to do in Act I.
>Dave's comedy flexibility is what makes the show worth watching, but technically, it has to be a nightmare behind the scenes when that happens.
Obviously, one of the writers created the "email" from an artist who was threatening to sue, which Dave just read at the end of the show, no problem.
Right, and we have read examples in the Wahoo of graphics being put together on the fly during the show, the Act 5 getting rewritten to reflect something that happened earlier, etc.
