That may be true, but it's still relative - a well-calibrated machine
displaying a good hi-def source will still look very good indeed. I know
mine does.
I bought my rear projection box 6 years ago because I wanted a big screen,
and the only alternative at the time, plasma, cost 5 times more to get a
picture half as big. It's a completely changed scene out there now. I still
wouldn't go plasma, probably LCD or LCOS. Sony has an incredible 70" 1080P
LCD, but it's priced about the same as Volkswagen you mention.
