Radio Host Arrested After Shooting Dog, Wife

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Central Florida radio talk show host is being
held in a Seminole County jail without bond.
Popular radio talk show host Edward "Shannon" Burke, 43, was arrested early
Friday morning after he fired a gun in his home that he claims he thought
was unloaded.
Investigators told Eyewitness News that Burke became angry with his dog and
threatened it with a handgun he thought was unloaded. When the gun fired,
the bullet passed through the dog's leg and then grazed the side of his
wife's head.
Both Burke's wife and dog were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Burke's wife, Catherine, was transported to Orlando Regional Hospital. The
dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was taken to an emergency vet clinic.
Burke is being charged with domestic violence, aggravated battery using a
deadly weapon and causing pain and suffering to an animal. He is scheduled
to appear before a judge Friday afternoon at 1:30pm.
Burke is the host of "The Shannon Burke Show" which airs on "Real Radio
104.1," weekdays from 11:00am until 3:00pm.
