I think, be it sirius or xm, the new sign-ups shouldnt' be

Pure genius. Why you're a dirty hippie instead of a great
businesswoman, I'll never know.
Churn is part of every business, from Phone companies to cable
companies there is always an acceptable level of churn built in to
every company. In the end it's the net amount that you add, and
keep, that is important.
But both companies are only adding new subs through car sales, is
this built in too? To fail at the consumer level except a free add on
to a new car? I've never seen anyone at the sat radio display at
Circuit City when I go there.
Yepp
Wasn't that the plan? Wasn't the plan, to bring sat radio to everyone,
was doing it through new car sales? You need to remember this is still
a new industry and like other industries it takes time. You just can't
think it's going to go from zero to a billion over night, to think
that is just foolish.
As for not seeing sat radio at Circuit City, well I'm not sure which
one you've been to? Everyone that I've been to has had a sat radio
rack or area where you can buy sat radio or different receivers.
Read my post again....I said I had never seen >>>>>ANYONE<<<<< near the
display see that is different than them not having one. They have one
and it is right when you walk in and no one is ever standing there
looking at it. .04% of the population isn't that much. Yes it will take
time or it will fail. After seeing the market close for both XM and
Sears yesterday on good news I don't hold out much hope for long term
success of either company.
Yepp
Sorry I miss read what you posted. As for only .04% of the population,
well they're just starting out and it does take time. Nobody could
possibly think they would have billions of sub overnight, it just
doesn't happen that way. Anyone that does think they should have
billions of subs right away, is just hoping that they're going to
fail and is just looking for a reason to say they failed. Also even
at Howard peak, 20+ million listeners, that was still a small % of the
total population. Remember you don't need a large % of the population
to be successful and a smaller % will still make you a good return on
your money and give you a chance to grow.
As for either company surviving long term, well it's very early in the
game and once the merger goes through they should be able to cut
costs. To say that you don't hold out much hope for long term success
of either company, especially when Sirius loses have narrow from last
year, just shows that you're against them and Howard. As for the
Market, well Sirus and XM results were already built into the stock
value, and their results were close to what wall street had predicted.
