When I read Boom's post, the term "Boot Licker" comes to mind.
No Friday shows for Howard and 12 weeks vacation (going by what Vicki
posted) is a Rediculous.
No way is Howard worth the price when he takes that much time off (yes
it IS too much). He also has a substandard writing team and an
extrememly repetitive routine.
Howard's not worth it.
The XACT receiver is about $50. That's about the price of dinner for two,
and not really a big deal.
You could have a romantic dinner for two with someone you love and
cherish (well, I realize Stern fans are mostly virgins), but you'd
rather spend it on a worthless reciever to listen to Stern's unfunny
show.
$12.95 is less than the cost of a CD or DVD.
We're not talking about alot of money. And it isnt just for Stern.
The programming on AM/FM radio has sucked for a long time. The music
selection prechewn and tasteless or new and lame. Little girl R&B, bad ***
rock,
I don't think FM radio plays that selection anymore. *** rock? Where
do you live, the 1980's?
crappy classic rock, oldies, 80s, whacky DJs... Outside of Stern, NPR,
classical, and some college programming AM/FM radio has been a wasteland.
Managing a music collection is work and costs money, even if you are
pirating the music. Harddrives, CDs/DVDs, portable players, IPOD-like
devices... It takes me at least an hour to select and create a simple MIX
CD. And then you cant find anything in your 500 gig collection you want to
listen to anyways. Sirius saves me the cost of burning cds, the time wasted
searching for music, harddrive space, exposes me to different genres not
available on FM/AM or that I would have ignored, and gives me the guy who's
made me laugh for over 15 years. With the price of the radio and
subscription we are talking about 56 cents a day (radio+1year). How is that
not worth the money? You spend more than that tipping at lunch with your
co-workers or the bar tender.
If 56 cents a day is a major financial burden I suspect you are doing
something wrong in life.
