Re: NY Daily News: 'Kabbalah' gets a Stern warning

Maybe I missed something, but it looks like she quit the part (which she
should not have done but she did) but the theatre group continued to use
here pictures. is that true.

But I also heard that the play has been cancelled so one would think it's
all over.

IIRC, the play didn't do one more performance after she quit. Further, she knew she wasn't getting paid and, at least from what I've read, the pictures posted in ads and on the website were publicity stills that she had to know were going to be used for that purpose.

The Director agreed not to use the name "Emily Stern" in advertising the play. So that goes to not using her picture as well? And when she knew those pictures were being used in advertising (I assume without her name used)? And were the pictures used to advertise the play on the official site any of the nude scenes? They why'd she go to the trouble of bleaching her hair for an off-off-off-off Broadway play?

The girl is getting bad advice from someone. If she really wants to make
it in the business she should not have considered "getting naked" in the
first place.

Howard could have arranged for some bit parts in movies and TV shows from
folks who he has given free publicity to on their previous work. The girl
would benefit from the experience but maintain a low profile.

Maybe Howard's ex-wife (the girls Mom) can convince her to move to the left
coast.

A stage name wouldn't hurt either.

I certainly have nothing against the girl. I think "too much Howard" just
might mess up her life permanently.

This is exactly what Stern did over "Jane". He sued the producers for the money the contract promised, even though I'd bet it was conditional on the movie being made and he'd done no work on it since they never got the funding, and, IIRC, he sued for punative damages as well since the producers dared to mention his being involved when they were trying to drum up money for the movie. Which is SOP in Hollywood.

The mind boggles as to why Buchwald allowed it to go forward unless he couldn't stop it.

Since then, Hollywood's wanted little-to-nothing to do with Stern.
