But why should he have known that killing Harry first would be a bad
idea (as opposed to killing Neville first)? Granted, he shouldn't have
given in to a self-fulfilling prophecy, but he had no reason to think
that one of the children would be more dangerous than the other.
But he did. He decided that Harry was the boy in the prophecy. Making
Neville nothing to him. Which as we all know is stupid. But wizards lack
common sense. Any Muggle would simply kill the spare. Why take chances?
Why waste time trying to figure out who to go after? Just hunt them both
down, problem solved. Yet we see once again a wizard not thinking
