Are you looking forward to Eclipse? This is probably my favourite of the
novels (close run between the first three - I do not like Breaking Dawn
as much) and I am worried they are going to change the way the
relationship between Bella, Edward and Jake develops. I saw a clip that
didn't seem to reflect Bella's anger with Jake when he kissed her and
she broke her hand - it seemed she was defending Jake against Edward!
Maybe the clip was totally out of context, but what!
I saw Eclipse a couple of days ago.. and... here's a 'short' review :)
<snip ramble>
The acting... probably better than the first two films. Rob as Edward
even managed to move his face a little! A miracle - tho I still
wouldn't say he 'acted'!
<snip more ramble>
I have been reading the build up to the film's release and it seemed to
be being set up as a standalone film and I am quite relieved you think
it needs to be considered part of the set (as a twilight fan) to enjoy
it most.
I so wish you liked RP though, and I know nothing I can say will change
your mind, because that must really take the edge of the films and for
the same reason, I am so glad I adore him.
Best of luck with that :)
He is slightly less 'wooden' in this film but he still doesn't look
like the epitome of male beauty to me... tho I'm a bloke so what would
*I* know? :)
Having said that... I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone
would have picked Nikki Reed to play Rosalie!! Ok Nikki isn't 'ugly'
but with her hair dyed the 'wrong' colour she is in no way 'the most
beautiful girl in the world'!
She looks *so* much nicer with her natural colouring. As a blonde she
just looks 'fake'. I've got nobody else in mind, just that she seems
'wrong'.
The thing I like about KS is her ability to take the long shots, just on
her face. She does a brilliant job of showing the thoughts, and
emotions, passing through her mind. In a novel we have the narrative,
but in films we just have their faces and she is good. I do though wish
the selflessness of Bella had been brought to the first two films (dunno
about this one) but that is the fault of the film makers, not KS.
I'll let you see the film before commenting. :)
As for Jake. Yes, I like film Jake too but he is not the Jake in the
books so I hate Jake anyway because I hate him in the book - if that
makes sense. I am *definitively* Team Edward where book Jake is
concerned.
By the way - it might be a bit late to tell you thins but did you know
you can read the entire Bree Tanner backstory at http://breetanner,con
for *free* until 7th July 2010?? :)
I haven't read Bree Tanner yet but have a screen print of the website as
I couldn't see myself doing so in the time allowed. I will read it
before I see the film.
I would really like to see it again... and probably a few more times
but I'm just going to have to wait for the DVD to be released :)
I will wait for the DVD (though I might see if I can find a half decent
screener just to get a taste) as I'm not a fan of the modern cinemas.
With some films I agree, but this film with it's 'big shots' would
probably deserve a viewing on the big screen. After seeing Eclipse on
DVD I now wish I'd gone to see it on the big screen. Still... I think
you'll enjoy it regardless... even with RP as Eddie. :D
By the way, I'm getting all sorts of complex emotions... 'dissonance'
really... over the film since I've read Bree's story and seen the
film. She's a dangerous wild animal... but it's so hard not to feel
tremendous sympathy for her despite everything she is.
The only analogy I can come up with to deal with it is to imagine her
as (for example) a polar bear. Up in the north where they are a long
way away from me (and therefore safe) they are beautiful creatures who
deserve to live their lives in peace even if that means they pick a
few of us (not me of course) off from time to time. However if I
opened my door and saw it looking at me... well that'd be a different
story? :)
