In the books JKR mentions Olavander using phoenix feather, unicorn hair,
and dragon hart strings as magical cores. Later we see Vela hair as
well. So If you went into the field of wand making, what else would you
try useing as a magical core for a wand?
Knezal whiskers?
Festral tail hairs?

Are they truly magical? Phoenixes self resurrect. Unicorns are
supposed to have magical horns granting wishes or teleporting or such.
Dragons are almost always associated with magic, and pure power.
Veelas induce feelings or love. Using them for the basis of
channeling a human's magic makes sense. Supercats and invisible
Pegasus like creature aren't all that magical.

I suppose mermaid hair might work. Mermaids turning into humans are
always magic like.

Of course they are magical. Look at how fast the festrals move and that only
some can see them. Another thing is JKR put all of them in fantast beasts
and where to find them. It list all of them as magical. I was just asking
what other items you might try for wand experments
So far the oly intresting experment some one has mentioned to me is trying
two or three cores in the same wand.
I don't want to aurgue over what someone thinks matches the magical level
they think is in the cores JKR talked about, what I want is there ideas on
what else might be a good thing to try. The meremaid hair is a good idea, do
you think it would be better at water based spells?
