And the DE's come across much nicer if they let "innocents" go free.
Which translates into more cooperation from others.
Can't image anyone using the words 'Death Eaters' and 'nice' together
in most circumstances :)
Which makes me wonder - how widely used was the term Death Eater? Obviously
members of OotP used it, but what about the general wizarding population? I
recall Barty Crouch understanding the term in the film GoH (probably
understanding, that is - the scene wasn't particularly well directed or
edited imho and came across as rather shambolic. Which might have been what
the director intended but if so, it didn't add to the film...) but that's
not canon (cannon?) - do the books show or imply wider usage and/or
understanding?
In the GoF film I recall seeing Rita Skeeter in the courtroom when
Barty Crouch Junior was arrested... but I can't recall if Harry saw
her in DD's memory.
If she *was* there I think it'd be general knowledge.
And wasn't there some description in the Daily Prophet about the DE's
mass escape??
