Well, it's not really a spell, but I love the idea of riding a broomstick
(though with the cushioning spell in place!) - but I suppose Voldy and
Snape's flying spell would be as good, so perhaps that one.

Brroms would be nice. However, if we were talking magical items I would
go for moody's eye my self.
As you mention the flying spell that V and snape did, I have a question
about that. As the only two people we see do that spell die before the end
of the book, do you think the spell was lost?
I wouldn't be surprised if V only gave that to his helpers that were
doing good in his eyes. So the spell might be lost. But a Few DE's or
ex-de's were left that may have heard it or have been told. What do you
think?"

Reparo would definitely be the most useful but given how often I misplace
things, I'd probably use accio the most :)

Accio is the one I would want the most, however, repairo is my faveret.

By the way did you ever wish that JKR showed how spells or other things were
created?
I thought at some point we would see harry and co being shown how to make
magical things. HG does but we only see her finished items. Never are we
even shown someone trying ... unless you coun't the comments from the twins
or what the queavy brothers tried to do with the badges.what one

Richard The Blind Typer.
Lets hear it for talking computers.
Lets go for talking i-pods!

Yes I'm curious about that whole aspect of magical research and knowledge management (how sad is that lol). But presumably you have to pass on spells, either orally or by writing them down, otherwise they're lost until someone "rediscovers" them. And how do you discover - or should that be, create - new ones? Random pig latin chanting while waving your wand in various directions until something happens? Which could be unfortunate if it's a dangerous one - as I guess, Luna's mother found out, to her cost!

But going into any detail about how spells were created would require the explanation of the underlying logic and how they work, which is one thing very absent from the books unfortunately - or perhaps that's a part of the books' magic :)

One of the (to me) weaknesses about the use of magic in the HP series is that it seems potentially infinite, dependant only on a combination of your personal power/knowledge/determination/confidence - there isn't any reservoir that has to be recharged, so you can keep it coming indefinitely. I think I'd have limited the supply so you needed time to recharge, encouraging you to be careful not wasteful about using it, but perhaps with a few ways to speed up the process occasionally (the odd herbal fixative but which drains you in the long run), or a way to store it for a while, which could give you a lot more plot twists, though you would then have to avoid the tendency to turn the books into a wooden templated dungeons and dragons series!

I suspect this one may go against most people's preferences for having gameplay that restricts a player and makes him/her think, but it does irritate me that later in the game I often have 5 or 6 slots filled with spell books, and yet need only 1 or 2 spells from each book. ... To make it less than foolproof, it should as mentioned have some chance of misfiring, but also I came up with the idea that perhaps you need to place an enchanted object at the point where you want to teleport to - so you have to have cleared a location first, and also there is a risk a wandering monster might pick it up and get you into big trouble Of course, I realised after I'd come up with it that this teleport anchor is similar to the portkey in Harry Potter, but I honestly hadn't been thinking of that at first! ...
