Frankly I found Ron to be a much more capable
character than many have given him credit for as he was clearly, for
the most part, as capable a wizard as Harry
Yes. His only real drawbacks in the books were his quick temper and
jealousy and his propensity to sometimes speak or act without due
thought (which is common to Harry too). Also he is portrayed as pretty
low on self-confidence and had to be constantly encouraged by Harry and
Hermione, as for example with Quidditch in HBP, and the Locket in DH.
Well, he's constantly living in his older brothers' shadows, gets hand
me downs while they get new things. It's no wonder. That's why he
desired to be the best at Hogwrats, so he'll stand out. And like
Neville, when given the chance to shine, he shines brightly. And all
because they got to be friends with Harry Potter.
