LOL! Nice joke. :-)
But seriously, I hope you understand that I was trying to make a relevant point and the stuff on their web site complaining about how "rich" rights holder are wickedly trying to prevent the poor from using their material for personal profit (OK, my words....) and that this is why they are fighting "billionaire JKR" is an interesting insight into their psyche.
Can't help but wonder at this point JKR has a dog called Mutley....
And note that the organisation that they proudly claim to be supporting their action is actually a recently set up forum jointly run by the owner of the publishing company in question. LOL! Made me laugh out loud when I read all that gumph - can they really believe that it boosts the credibility of their "selfless resolve"? It kind of reads like one of those terrible religious and "make a million by the end of the month" sites, you know the kind with the made up testimonials. :-)
I do not understand the feelings about copyrighted materials. THe overwhelming majority of those things are held - not by huge conglomerates - or billionaire authors - but regular everyday people who scrape by to make a living.
I have a friend who had a song in the seventies make #2 on the charts and win a Grammy. He NOW makes a living selling Pianos in a Shopping Mall store and his royalties for that song last year amounted to less than $2,000 - it is hardly ever played today. I was lucky in that my biggest "hit" was a jingle that ran for two decades and did well for me - but it also it no longer in use and makes no money.
I may be doing better than the average - because I ALWAYS had a regular job - but most copyright holders (including me) cannot make a living on the amount of money they get from their royalties. When some JERK steals a program or some music - they are digging into our pockets and stealing our paychecks. Yet - for some reason - this idiot wants me to think more about the condition of the thief - than paying my mortgage or utility bills. We regular people have the same concerns.
Well - I really don't care about the thief. They get ONE warning to stop - which is really more than they deserve. After that - I really don't give a damn about the reason WHY they stole my property - just as Nosey Parker would not care why someone stole his car. And I don't are what condition they are in - if they are needy - there are thousands of government programs out there to help him - I am not a welfare agency. There are not a lot of programs out there to protect me.
I am tired of being compared to Sony Records and JK Rowling - billionaire author. I am neither of those. I can just see Mr. Parker asking WHY a person stole his car and forgiving him and not pursuing its return(Or giving it to the thief) because the thief had a "good" reason for taking it.
Yeah - RIGHT!!!!!!
If there was a Hell - which Unfortunately I don't believe in - that is where Mr. Parker deserves to take his rationalization for his thefts. He has no reason for stealing music or programs - good or otherwise.
