Those who believe that also believe that the city streets in America
are lined with GOLD. Obviously YOU have not been there much or been
involved at a high enough level to deal with the governments. While
Copyright law is indeed different in the third world - American
copyright holders have successfully protected their copyrights in
huge numbers of cases. In many of them - the Governments of the
countries in question just swooped down and closed the factories
and/or businesses involved - without any legal proceedings. Things
have changed - and the open selling of pirated goods has been greatly
reduced over the years.

However Remysun2000 is correct. The overwhelming majority of the
Chinese people do not have computers, or cars, or lots of other things
we take for normal. It is only primarily in the cities that this
exists. ANd in the cities - it is still only a small fraction of the
people who will openly break the law.

Small fraction? You are more blind than I thought if you believe that
is the case. Like I said, I have never seen any legal copies of Western
music, movies or software sold in the East. And book piracy is rife in
India. You think people who earn pennies a day in India will pay you
rich Westerners the royalties? Fools! The great majority of them don't
care about copyright, only a small minority would actually buy the legal
stuff.

And oh, those crackdowns on piracy, happen all the time, have been for
ages, and it has never worked. Go down the shopping malls or market
places of all Asian cities and you will see the latest pirated videos.
People I know from Asian countries (India, China, Malaysia, Indonesia,
Thailand) own tons of stuff and none of them from legal sources. You
have never been to small towns and villages in Asia? I have, and you
find these pirated stuff everywhere.

If you think the government of Eastern nations are so concerned about
piracy, then let me know why I can watch the latest Hollywood films or
US primetime TV shows on the Internet from sites which appear to be
located in China? In twenty or thirty years China may well be the
biggest economy in the world, do you think they will let you dictate how
they do business, when now they can't even be bothered with protecting
your precious rights apart from the occasional token crackdowns?

Idiot!
