Thanks for the explanation. Could you possibly also provide me with
some links where I can learn more about this interesting concept?

No, sorry, I don't have any links. It's all just theory, and
I don't often hear a lot of talk by physicists about it. I mostly
just hear about it from some physicists occassionally on science shows
or around a university or most often in science fiction, and also a
little in philosophical studies. It is also possible, if that
'element' exists, that it could be a type of particle that is simply
small enough and a high enough energy level to travel through this
matter. Then, if they could hold together in a form of some sort that
could contain intelligence and still pass through this type of matter,
the 'less dense' explanation could still work. But then the quantum
particles building it would still have a different frequency, like the
high frequency photons of x-rays being different than other light, to
have a different property of passing through this matter, like with
the quanta in string theory. But some scientists will say that the
quantum unit of light is the photon, a quantum unit of gravity is the
graviton, etc., going to quantum subatomic particles in atoms like
quarks, and some think it's impossible to get below these units. Some
say that changing the frequencies of these, like with light and
x-rays, will change the matter to a higher energy form or shift it to
a different dimension or universe, as Toon mentioned. Some think it
would just destroy the matter. Some say that there are smaller
quantum particles within these units of matter that holds the
frequencies that only control what the particle is.

But, to go off on a slight tangent, right now the big theory
that many look at is the string theory that says that the small
quantum particles are enery strings that make up everything and need
11 dimensions to exist. The extra dimensions are thought by some to
be able to exist in their own bubbles around the individual strings,
that are like rubberbands vibrating. In that theory the common use of
vibrational frequencies is what I mentioned earlier, just to decide
what the particles that they build will be. As Toon said, in some
theories there's some talk about different quantum frequencies
existing in alternate universes, and some say that they exist
basically in the same area and are just undetectable by us and that
changing the frequency of one piece of matter will change its
universe. But with string theory, the strings can make up separate
universes in different areas. There are theories that say that a
single string can stretch to surround a universe that contains many
different universes in sections. Some theories say that the universe
is a cylinder shape and has branches off of it into other universes
that are also cylindrically shaped, forever like a kind of mandelbrot
set. Others say that they are all slices floating in a spatial area
and we're just stuck on one universal slice, not able to reach another
universe, without something like a wormhole. Then some think that
they collide at times. The vibrational frequencies of the strings of
different universes might vibrate differently than here, creating
different forms of matter that exist with different universal laws.
So measuring the frequency of a string might show which universe a
particle is from. Then people who hate physics often get annoyed
about them being called different alternate universes, looking at the
definition of universe and saying that they are all a part of
everything, the same universe. But that's another argument.

That seems almost like a Jewish philosopher's concept of god,
in a way. I can't remember his name, but he said that god was
everything and everywhere, but he/she/it created our universe as
separate from god but attached, like a bubble within him/her/it, so we
could be created and then observed and god would be everywhere, but
not interfering always, but able to. Or something like that. I think
it was also one way to explain god being everywhere but evil existing,
because the bubble was in god and a part of god, but separated. I
should look that up again. Though I like the Mormon explanation in
that good and evil exist just because they are part of the universal
laws that are older than and independent of god, and they are
individual choice, which is also independent of god.

So I guess if you put all of this odd rambling together so
far, you could say that, by string theory, strings create particular
particles with particular properties by their vibrational frequencies.
Different strings will make different photons and different subatomic
particles, some of which have the properties of being able to pass
through matter and affect matter. So, you could conceivably have a
type of matter, made by a string with a specific vibrational
frequency, which was at a different energy level and could pass
through this type of matter and affect this type of matter, but would
exist in the same universe. So in that way, going by string theory
and some imagination, one could say that this theoretical 'element' is
both matter of a different quantum frequency and matter of a 'lesser
density'.

If you want a link to more of an explanation to string theory,
here's a good show (and free) that I saw a couple of years ago that
explains it nicely with nice special effects, The Elegant Universe:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html

It starts with older theories of the universe and unified field theory
and then goes into what the string theorists say to try to pull it all
together.

Probably more than you wanted, but sometimes I just go on with
random thoughts on these subjects.

Sadly; Although this all very interesting;
There isn't a lick of evidence to support any tier of this reasoning.
