I found him cruel ever since Snape Aps in begging for help in saving
Lily. DD was a jerk to him. What happened to everybody deserves a
second chance? Then he's all, Oh so you only want Lily saved? As in,
why should I care if you won't care about her family. Maybe he's
really mad that Snape gave V the half prophecy, causing this to all
happen.
